Out For Change

I'm thrilled to be at the Ford Foundation's Out For Change event today for their incredible new Advancing LGBT Rights initiative, which sets aside $50 million over the next five years to advance LGBT equality.

GSA Network's own Geoffrey Winder joined Rea Carey of the Task Force, Chai Feldblum from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Richard Socarides to kick off the day with the panel, "The Road to Equity: Where Do We Need to Go?"

Moderated by Laura Flanders, this fascinating discussion covered everything from the role of allies to the importance of social media in advancing social change. The heart of the panel, though, was intersectional organizing, as Geoffrey captured: "The next iteration of the LGBT movement has to be the anti-racist, gender justice, economic justice iteration of the movement."

There's still a full day to go, so follow along with my tweets (@CarolynLaub) and the Ford Foundation's live blog. And don't forget to check out this great video that opened the conference:
