Since we launched the #GSAsUnite! petition platform , you all have blown us away with some seriously kick-ass campaigns.
Don't believe us? The proof is below. Sign on to these awesome campaigns, share, and find inspiration to start your own !
"All young people should have the opportunity to go to school, be themselves, and graduate. In order to keep ourselves and fellow students in school, we demand that the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education implement restorative practices."
"Recently, The Laramie Project was proposed as the spring, open audition play on Troy High School's campus. The play was vetoed for containing mature themes. Please preserve the freedom of speech on the campus of Troy High School. Free speech is a fundamental right in our nation and must be protected by the school and the district. The students of Troy deserve the protection of their first amendment rights just as each and every other American citizen. We urge you to allow the Troy High School Drama Department to put on The Laramie Project, a beautiful work that promotes tolerance in our nation."
"Give all students, including transgender students, the opportunity to do well in school and graduate. Pass a policy affirming that the district, in accordance with the law, expects schools to work with transgender students on a case-by-case basis to ensure they can participate in activities and access facilities consistent with their gender identity."
"During graduation for several of our schools, we are told to be separated by our school's colors determining our sex given to us at birth. Not only does this create separation at a ceremony that promotes the unity and commencement of a student's class, but it creates further harm by even affecting transgender and gender nonconforming students."
Remember, these are just some of the inspiring campaigns started by GSA youth leaders. Sign on and share because when #GSAsUnite, we can push back against oppression across the country!
