Beloved GSA Network!
March introduces the initial feeling of Spring. Our days become longer, and warm weather invites us to spend more time outside and with each other. Rooted in Women’s History Month and GSA Day 4 Racial Justice, we enter this season with our hearts on fire. Freedom movements use tactics like marching to bring us together and push us forward. Marching requires a route and rhythm. Each route should be ready to adapt. Every good march brings the drum and spirit. There is no perfect route or rhythm, but with people power and learning lessons on the other side comes the reward of trying. And the possibility of setting ourselves free.

Throughout GSA Network, TQ2S+ youth leaders and staff are holding the line in the name of our own dignity and studenthood. Trans and queer youth remain the center of public debate from our televisions to the Supreme Court. Alongside trans and queer-led organizations, we are defending our right to play sports and win. Those outside of our communities are intentionally being tricked into believing attacks across race, class and migration status are not strategies to disenfranchise us all. Both the BPJ & Hecox cases will force a precedent for how people of all genders will be policed in sports. Our collective movements’ intervention is a direct contest to set in stone, once and for all, that trans girls have a right to compete alongside their peers and show other trans youth that it is their rightful place. So, we keep marching with and beside them.
A new season brings new conditions and challenges us to listen to our intuitive instincts to preserve consistent practices, evaluate how our organizing practices enable us to sharpen our strategies, and resist the illusion of perfection. Just like unpermitted marches opposing ICE’s violent strategies and advocating for trans youth playing sports, GSAs are naturally going to congregate. And when we move in harmony, our voice unfolds.
Again, many rewards come from experimentation, gaining collective experiences, and fortifying our strategic senses. Remember, what we try out and seed this Spring will bear plentiful fruit and flourish into a safe, affirming free world. This is the time for us to build beloved communities. We encourage clubs to register for connectivity to fellow TQ2S+ clubs, access to club-only spaces like our GSAsUnite petition platform and meeting space, and comprehensive yet engaging curriculum and community gathering materials.
