GSA Advocacy & Youth Leadership Academy (GAYLA) is a three-day intensive training in the legislative process, policy and administrative advocacy, media activism & other important related skills. GAYLA will take place in Sacramento from April 25th, 2014 to April 27th, 2014, culminating in Queer Youth Advocacy Day (QYAD) on April 28th, 2014.
In order to participate in GAYLA and QYAD, you MUST apply and be accepted in order to attend. We are accepting up to 70 youth advocates for this training. While the focus is on intensive training with a core group of youth, we guarantee it will be a fun AND educational time! If you have experienced discrimination based on gender identity or expression, accessing mental health care or care deeply about impacting education, and want to do something positive to make schools safer, you should apply for GAYLA!

Youth (age 18 and under) in California high school and middle school Gay-Straight Alliance clubs who are strongly interested in making change at their schools and across the state should apply. Youth of color, low-income youth, and transgender and gender non-conforming youth are strongly encouraged to apply.
All leaders must participate fully in the training and be able to be in Sacramento from the evening of Friday, April 25th, 2014 through the evening of Monday, April 28th, 2014.
