Do you want to join a collective of youth leaders who challenge the media narratives of our people?

Do you want to deepen your political education, tell your story through monthly multimedia storytelling projects, and meet other youth leaders between the ages of 13-18?

Gender Justice Leadership Programs’ Youth Collectives are our national offerings for youth across the country to join a collective of youth leaders for a 10-month media-based organizing and leadership development program of Genders & Sexualities Alliance Network and Transgender Law Center. We offer three identity-based collectives:

• TRUTH (National Trans Youth Collective) is a program for trans and gender non-conforming youth who are interested in storytelling and media training for local and national campaigns. Launched in 2015, TRUTH equips  trans youth tools and community to share their stories strategically while staying safe and supported. 

• The Roses Initiative is a care-based offering for Black and Brown girls and non-binary folks of transfemme experience. Through intergenerational relationships, storytelling, and mutual support, Roses creates space for trans girls of color to heal, connect, and build power together. 

• The Two Spirit Initiative empowers Two Spirit youth by centering Indigenous knowledge and decolonizing how we organize. Through culturally grounded programming and partnerships with Native-led organizations, TSI builds space for Two Spirit youth to lead across Indigenous and TQ2S+ movements.

What ALL GSA Network Youth Collectives offer: 

1. Community building opportunities with other trans and nonbinary young people nationwide, through team projects and virtual gatherings

2. Learning in-depth skills and knowledge about the power of media in organizing and practice using trainings to expand capacity

3. The crafting and sharing your story to challenge common narratives about what it means to be young and trans, while supporting other trans youth sharing theirs

Our team welcomes all young, transgender and non-binary activists from ages 13-18 to apply for open council positions. We prioritize applications from parts of our community who are historically unrepresented, including but not limited to: Black people, Indigenous people, non-Black people of color, trans women, non-binary femme people, high school students, system-impacted people, and former foster youth who are committed to bringing change for trans communities across the nation!
